Enable or disable SATA hotplug on AMD driver?

I'm confused

I have been testing the past few days and noted the SSD's I have connected as spares were dropping off and reconnecting, bringing the auto play box up..I use a revo as a boot drive on this machine so i did not get BSOD, however i feel if I had been using one of the sata ssd I would have.

here is what I have done, im still testing this...I will say since changing it I have not seen a drop off again...fingers crossed here.

Tony from OCZ test this function for SandForce SSD BSOD problem ( What he thought, when hotplug is turn on, the SSD drop out cause system can not find the system driver and BSOD). My Registry Patch just for disable HIPM/LPM function, leave hotplug setting by default from AMD.

Hi JanCerny,

I don't think turn on hotplug will cause SandForce BSOD problem, It should be something else like PHY Interface protocol, power managent, NAND disturb.
Anyway, not that easy to find what's cause the problem. not only AMD platform, same as Intel.

I haven't experience with AMD.  I was testing only on Intel ICH10R and Z68 (Asus P6T7WS SuperComputer [1001], Gigabyte GA​-Z68XP​-UD3​-iSSD [F5]), with your SATA/LPM patch, disabled EIST&C1E, lastest Intel drivers INF 9.2.3.1017 WHQL and RST 10.6.0.1022 WHQL.

• Marc Prieur from Hardware France report 8MB BSOD issue with X25-M G2 (!) http://www.hardware.fr/news/11722/intel-bug-8-mo.html
• Anand report SandForce BSOD issue appears rarely, randomly and without any sort of predictability on Asus P8Z68 and ASRock A75 Extreme6. Intel DH67BL works perfectly. But, he was testing with old drivers Intel INF 9.1.1.1015 and RST 10.2. http://www.anandtech.com/show/46 ... ght-ssds-compared/2

I install fresh system and try unplug, hard reset and standard using:

• X25-M G2 160 GB (2CV102M3, 2CV102HD): run 2+2 weeks, without problems
• Intel SSD 320 300 GB (4PC10362, 4PC10302): run 3+3 weeks, without problems
• Kingston HyperX SSD 240 GB (320ABBF0 = v3.20): run 2 weeks, without problems

But, it should be something else like as 1st generation SandForce firmware issue, where was TRIM working only with msahci. This issue looks like as firmware, BIOS and power managment compatibility problem.

1. Intel 320 8M bug still not fix yet. (with new firmware 0362) . The 25nm NAND Flash have a lot of tricks when use it, otherwise it will report full block unrecoverable error. (MLC / MSB / LSB)

2. The 1st generation SandForce firmware issue was MSAHCI only can Trim first 4GB LBA.(You need to change Registry if you want trim full LBA address.）AMD & Intel drivers don't have this issue.

3. The 2st generation SandForce firmware looks have more stability problem. Intel's newest chipset also have SATA PHY interface problem. ( change rom and drivers version very often.)

3. Maybe, but how would you explain SandForce problems with AMD A75/SB850? (And, I know, every other Intel driver is unstable)
