Phenom II X6 1090T is going to be the fastest six-core AMD desktop microprocessor once it's released at the end of April or in May 2010. Running at 3.2 GHz, or 200 MHz slower than Phenom II X4 965 (the fastest quad-core CPU as of March 2010), the 1090T will offer dynamic acceleration, which should make it as fast as the 965 when running non-multithreaded applications. Even more, according to early reports, the 1090T will be released as a "Black Edition" CPU, i.e. it will have unlocked clock multiplier. All other 1090T processor features will be no different from other Phenom II processors. Prices for this processor were recently posted in two different online stores, and in both cases the price was around $300 before taxes. |
